When you invite Gallagher’s into your home for a carpet cleaning, we are confident that you’ll have an excellent experience from start to finish. There are a few things that you can do ahead of time to prepare your home so we can provide you with the best experience possible. While we are happy to meet your pets and help with some prep beforehand, we’ve compiled some tips to ensure your Gallagher’s cleaning experience will be efficient, thorough, and most importantly, exceed your expectations.

Take a look at our short video about our carpet cleaning process for a better idea as to why prep beforehand is so important.

Guarantee Parking & Water Access

Ensure your outside water source is functioning. This means water can flow through the spigot or hose bib and the threads on the connection are intact so we can hook up our truck to the water source. WINTER TIME WARNING – Many landlords and property management companies will shut the water to the outside of a home or building off when temperatures begin to drop. Make sure to let our team know right away if this is the case so that we can plan accordingly.

We will need to have a space to park our service van within 2 car lengths of the front of your home. Since our equipment is mounted inside the van, we cannot complete a truck-mounted cleaning if we cannot reach the home with our hoses.. Parking is typically an issue in Downtown Portland, The Pearl, Inner SE Portland, Goose Hollow and near Lloyd Center. Please notify our office staff if you are unable to reserve parking.

If we do not have running water to the outside water source or we cannot park our van, we cannot complete the cleaning and you may be charged a cancellation fee if the appointment needs to be rescheduled with too late notice.

Clearing the Cleaning Area

It is your responsibility to move anything small or breakable out of the areas that will be cleaned. This includes things like lamps, vases, decor, picture frames, electronics, rugs, shoes, etc. Please leave as much of the carpet exposed as possible. In occupied homes, we understand that moving everything out of a room is not realistic. We can move/shift the following items if you prefer:

  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Sofas
  • Ottomans

Gallagher’s Rug & Carpet Care cannot move the following items:

  • Beds
  • Dressers
  • China Cabinets
  • Bookshelves
  • Desks with computers/printers
  • Entertainments Centers
  • Electronics (we recommend unplugging low-hanging cords prior to cleaning)

During the initial walkthrough of your appointment, your technician will help you move some of the items mentioned and measure the exact areas we’ll be cleaning.

Secure Pets & Children

We LOVE pets, but please make sure they are in a secure area away from the carpets while we are cleaning for our technicians safety and the safety of your pets. We also LOVE children, but please supervise young children and keep them away from the areas being cleaned and away from the equipment and hoses. We recommend supervising children after the carpets have been cleaned and keeping pets off the carpet until it is dry.
